Docs & Hybrids

In recent years, we have witnessed a growing popularity of series that defy traditional genre boundaries and classifications. In this section, we want to highlight series whose creators go against the grain, offering original narratives and dramaturgical solutions — often in deliberate opposition to conventional storytelling rules. Yet, despite their unconventional form, these productions are impossible to turn away from. Genre hybrids gain increasing popularity, often making difficult or niche topics appealing and accessible to a wider audience. We will present the immense potential hidden in such productions — what draws viewers to them, and why they can be so deeply engaging. This section will feature, among others, the mockumentary series Film School: The Rookies (created by students of the Łódź Film School) and the animated series Knights of The Ass Valley.
