We already know the Best Polish TV Series of the Year 2024 at BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon

The international jury consisting of: David Caffrey, Gaïa Weiss, Danna Stern and Pam Roberts ruled that the Best Polish TV Series of the Year 2024 was Infamy (Netflix), directed by Anna Maliszewska and Kuba Czekaj. Awards were also given in seven other categories and the Audience Award went to the series 1670 directed by Maciej Buchwald and Kordian Kądziela (Netflix).

BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon is the first international series festival in Poland. To meet the needs of the creative industry, we have launched new, prestigious Awards for the domestic serials industry to show that serials have become one of the most important symbols of modern culture today.

An international jury has ruled that Infamy (Netflix), directed by Anna Maliszewska and Kuba Czekaj, produced by Netflix, was the Best Polish TV Series of the Year 2024. For a series that has allowed us a glimpse to a unique and distinct world. This show is a modern-day fairy-tale championing female independence and cultural differences. However, the awards for the series did not end there, as the award for Best Actressfor bold and nuanced performance, which exhibits both fragility and strength was given to Zofia Jastrzębska who portrayed Gita Burano. Anna Maliszewska and Kuba Czekaj for overseeing bold creative decisions which beautifully illuminate a distinct and specific world was awarded with the Best Director awards. The winner of the Best Script award are Dana Łukasińska, Anna Maliszewska and Julita Olszewska for intricate storytelling, beautifully defined characters and diverse narrative tools who wrote the script for Infamy (Netflix).

Borys Szyc was named the Best Actor for his role in Still Here (SkyShowtime) for personifying extremely complex and haunted character and taking us on an uncomfortable journey. Whereas an award for Best Cinematography for this series was given to Piotr Uznański for atmospheric depiction of contemporary Warsaw, showcasing both its beauty and its underbelly.

For bringing together an arresting and formidable ensemble cast the award for Best Casting Director went to Katarzyna Gryciuk Krzywda for the series 1670 by Netflix.

For exceptional sensitivity and bravery in storytelling touching on difficult subject matters the BNP Paribas Tomorrow’s Icon for a young creative person who, in a given year, offered a new and original, groundbreaking look at a Polish series – capturing the attention of the industry and viewers with their fresh, creative ideas, was awarded to Kamila Tarabura – co-creator, director and screenwriter of Absolute Beginners (Netflix).

The award of the most rigorous jury was also presented – the Audience Award, decided by all viewers attending the competition screenings. The statuette went to the creators of the series 1670, directed by Maciej Buchwald and Kordian Kądziela (Netflix).

It’s the end of the first international series festival in Poland – BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon, but it’s only the beginning of its story. Together we were part of a beautiful pilot, however, there is still a whole series to come after all. We proved that Polish series are doing really well and are filled with young talents, and viewers really want to watch them. During the day we discussed phenomena related to the production and reception of series, and the nights were spent together at marathons and premieres of the hottest productions. Warsaw proved once again that it is a true home for series. Thank you for your presence – we are not saying “goodbye,” but – we see you next year!
