“Lady Love” by MAX just under two weeks before its premiere to be seen only as part of a special screening at BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon!

On December the 20th, the MAX streaming network will make its world premiere of the series Lady Love, which is the next Polish original series in the MAX collection. The production by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery and Bongo Media Production on behalf of MAX will be screened as part of a special screening on December 7 at 8:00 pm in two cinema rooms of Kinoteka (3 and 7). Pre-premiere screenings only during BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon!

“The series tells the story of Lucyna Lis, a young woman from a small PRL town with dreams of freedom and living on her own terms, who fled abroad. In the European dream factory of the 1980s – in West Germany – she found herself on the covers of adult magazines and quickly became a star known by the nickname “Lucy Love.” But persistence determination and ambition changed the course of her destiny. In rapid succession, she grew from a magazine model and erotic film actress to an uncompromising businesswoman and an icon of German pop culture in the 1980s. Lucyna’s special talent for business and her keen sense of audience needs, helped her revolutionize the porn industry. In the most masculine world, she introduced new rules of the game. She began producing pornographic films in which she reversed male dominance, putting female pleasure at the center of the action.” [filmpolski.pl]

The series was directed by Bartosz Konopka (Fear of Falling, Rabbit à la Berlin, The Breach, The Convict, Hold Tight), Ewa Popiołek and Dorota Jankojć-Poddębniak are responsible for the script, and Jacek Podgórski is the cinematographer. Anna Szymańczyk will play the lead role as Lucyna Lis. In other roles: Clemens Schick, Lise Risom Olsen, Tobias Lange, Ralph Kaminski, Dorota Pomykała, Adam Woronowicz, Borys Szyc, Julian Świeżewski, Piotr Trojan, Michał Żurawski, Anna Krotoska, Stanisław Linowski, Julia Polaczek, Maciej Radel, Jacek Król and Ewelina Żak.

The adult film industry is a rarely represented theme in feature productions, despite some better and worse films and series. Apart from various documentaries and classics such as Boogie Nights directed by Paul Thomas Anderson with casting of Julianne Moore, Mark Wahlberg, and Burt Reynolds, it’s hard to find quality releases. Pleasure from a few years ago disappointed, and this year’s series Supersex didn’t exactly appeal to a worldwide audience. To date, one of the better television series approaches to the genre was The Deuce which, over the course of three seasons, dismantled numerous stereotypes about the porn industry. Lady Love is not only the first project to address the Polish adult film industry, but the setting of events in the 1980s seems to add potential quality to the result. With her brilliant role in Forgotten Love will Anna Szymańczyk captivate audiences like Maggie Gyllenhaal did in the said The Deuce?

In addition to providing technical information and a distribution description of the series, a teaser was also made available, via the YouTube channel and other social media sites. The producers are meticulously sharing information about the new series which makes it even more encouraging to watch the first two episodes during BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon. Come to Kinoteka for a special screening of Lady Love on December the 7th at 8pm!

The event is organized by OFF CAMERA Foundation in partnership with the capital city of Warsaw. The festival’s titular partner is BNP Paribas Bank.
