The Doll (ep. 1, 2)

A TV series based on Bolesław Prus’s novel “The Doll,” which is part of the Polish school reading canon. Stanisław Wokulski, the owner of a haberdashery shop in Warsaw, returns from abroad, bringing with him a considerable fortune earned through military supply contracts. He decides to expand his business and gain entry into the aristocratic elite. Wokulski falls in love with Izabela Łęcka, a young woman from a distinguished but impoverished noble family. Miss Izabela is a customer at his shop, but she treats Wokulski as someone from a lower social class.
