An international jury will judge the Polish series in the first such competition!

Polish series in the competition for the Best Series of the Year 2024 will be judged by an international jury consisting of: David Caffrey, Gaïa Weiss, Danna Stern and Pam Roberts. The assessment of series by people not connected with Polish productions is a guarantee of independence and a fresh perspective on the phenomena taking place in the domestic industry. All jurors will be in person in Poland. The awards will be presented in categories: Best Series of the Year 2024, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Casting Director, Best Screenplay and BNP Paribas Tommorrow’s Icon.


David Caffrey is an Irish film director. He is best known for projects such as: Peaky Blinders, Love//Hate, The Alienist and the most recent Gentlemen. He began his career working on the production of numerous B-movies with Roger Corman. When his short films Connivers, Bantams and Bolt caught the attention of the film community, they resulted in his feature debut Divorcing Jack and the series Aristocrats. His next feature film was the comedy On the Nose. Since then, David Caffrey has directed both feature films, commercials and television series, such as Monarch of the Glen, Life Begins and Wild at Heart. Caffrey is the director of 25 of the 28 episodes of the best series in Irish television history, Love/Hate.The series won numerous IFTA (Irish Film and Television Awards), two of which went to David as best director. His other projects include Tennison and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man. More recently, David was director and executive producer of Fear Index, a four-episode series starring Josh Hartnett. The series is an adaptation of a book by Robert Harris. He is also the director and executive producer of the second season of the Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globes-nominated series The Alienist, starring Daniel Bruhl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning. One of the best-known projects he has worked on is the BAFTA award-winning series Peaky Blinders with Cilian Murphy, in which he directed the entire fourth season. One of his latest projects is the series Gentlemen, which is an adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name. The series premiered in 2024 and we can see Theo James, Gaïa Weiss and Kaya Scodelario in the main roles.

Gaïa Weiss is a French actress and screenwriter, known to audiences for TV series such as Vikings and Marie Antoinette, as well as the award-winning film Meander. Born in Paris, the daughter of a Polish woman and a Frenchman, she grew up between Paris and London in a multicultural environment. She discovered her love of the stage at the age of 4 through ballet and began taking theater classes at the age of 7. She trained at Cours Florent in Paris and then at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She is the niece of political activist dean Andrzej Koraszewski, under whose influence she created her first serial project Solidarność – she is currently working on this project with Sylvia Saether and Sumbolon Productions. In 2021, she won numerous Best Actress awards for her role as Lisa in Meander (New York Horror Film Festival, Rojo Sangre in Buenos Aires, Celludroid Film Festival, FilmQuest). We can spot Gaïa Weiss on the small screen in Guy Ritchie’s series Gentlemen, also directed by David Caffrey, in which she stars with actors such as Theo James and Kaya Scodelario. In January 2025, she will also appear in the French-Israeli production Menace Imminente, directed by Dan Sachar, and in La Storia della mia famiglia, a Netflix series directed by Claudio Cupellini.

Danna Stern is an executive producer/global content director at Transit Productions. Based in Berlin, the Israeli-born, experienced content director works across borders and genres, focusing on scripted and non-scripted productions. One of her most recent projects, Bros, can already be watched on the Netflix streaming service, and the recently completed documentary Supernova: The Music Festival Massacre, is currently airing on multiple channels and platforms around the world. As founder of Yes Studios, based in Tel Aviv, Stern has created a distribution and development powerhouse delivering premium content to international platforms. Twice recognized as one of Variety magazine’s “Top 500 Global Media Leaders,” she has been directly responsible for the global premieres of numerous series, including: Fauda, Shtisel, The Devil Next Door, The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem etc. In addition, Stern has led dozens of format adaptations in many territories, including: Your Honor, one of the best-selling scripted formats in recent years, As We See It (Amazon, originally On the Spectrum), 68 Whiskey (Paramount +) “The Good Cop” (Netflix) Significant Other (ITV), Tanaav (Fauda India, SonyLiv), Escort Boys (Amazon / TF-1).

Pam Roberts is a Scotland based filmmaker and has worked as a producer and line producer for the past twenty years, making huge contributions to both British television and independent film. Among her series projects are such productions as: The Diplomat for Netflix, Black Mirror, The Last Kingdom and Shetland. Pam has also worked on such independent films as Ninian Doff’s multi-award-winning debut, The Charmed Ones, A Last Breath and Agnieszka Holland’s Mr. Jones.

The winners of the competition will be announced on December 8, 2024 after 8pm, during the Closing Gala of BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon, which will be held at the Relax Stage.
