Polonica

For the last decade Polish premium TV shows kept marking their presence known on the international stage, and Polish creators kept gaining momentum both in Poland and abroad. Due to the global reach of streaming services we can now applaud the success of Polish productions, such as “Wielka woda”, “Rojst” or “The King of Warsaw”, while the upcoming premieres of  the high budget titles such as “Hewelisz” and “Black Daisies” aim at international acclaim, and have a real chance to conquer not only our local market, but a global one. Global market is also a chance for Polish talent to achieve international success, and follow the footsteps, to name a few, of Marcin Dorociński (“Queens Gambit”) or Piotr Adamczyk (“For All Mankind”, ”Hawkeye”). International stage is also an opportunity for our local writers, directors and composers.

During the Polonica section of the Festival we will discuss the perks of Polish industry – from picturesque locations, creative writers and directors to amazing acting skills of our actors – but we will also we talk challenges. We will focus on recent developments for Polish TV series market, especially in terms of modes of narrative and the use of popular genres.
