Families Like Ours (ep. 1, 2)

The drama directed by Thomas Viterberg (author of the Oscar-winning “Another Round”) begins in the middle of an idyllic Danish summer, but the atmosphere changes quickly. Rising water levels lead to the evacuation of all the country’s inhabitants. All property becomes worthless, and families, friends and lovers are forced to flee and separate. Luck favors only a few. Those who can afford it flee to wealthier countries, the rest remain dependent on state programs and must move wherever there is room. Chaos, divisions and helplessness destroy the inhabitants of Denmark. But despite being forced to say goodbye to their homeland, they must continue to live. Fall in love, unite and nurture hope.  

Against the background of these events, we meet Laura, a high school student who has fallen in love for the first time and is on the verge of her final exams. When news of the evacuation hits, Laura and her family’s fate is changed forever, and she is faced with the impossible dilemma of choosing between the three people she loves most.
